Founding[]

In 1904 Leeds City FC were founded and joined the Football League the following year. They were the main club in Leeds in the pre world war one days. Perhaps the most notable fact about Leeds city is that they had future Arsenal manager Herbert Chapman with whom he won two league titles.

In 1919 the club were forced to dissolve by the football league and their players auctioned off and Leeds united were founded shortly afterwards and took over Leeds City's old ground Elland Road, the following year they joined the Football League
